Authors At Ashmount

In Autumn Term 2008 we celebrated our love of reading with a programme of visits from some of our favourite authors. We were thrilled to welcome them to Ashmount, and thank them for taking the time to share their books with us.

We got off to a flying start on 30 September 2008 with a visit from Charlie Higson, author of the hugely popular 'Young Bond' series. Charlie met Years 5 and 6 to read from his latest book, 'By Royal Command', and answer pupils' questions.

Our 'Authors At Ashmount' programme continued in style on 11 November 2008 with a visit from Francesca Simon, creator of 'Horrid Henry', who told us how she first had the idea for Horrid Henry's adventures, and treated us to a preview of a brand new story.

And on 10 December 2008, finishing the term's events on a high note, we welcomed Michael Morpurgo OBE, former Children's Laureate and one of our very favourite authors. The juniors were treated to a reading from Kensuke's Kingdom, and the infants loved Michael's rendition of Cockadoodle-doo, Mr Sultana!
