Music

We're delighted to say that Ashmount has achieved the Silver Sing Up Award. This means that Sing Up recognises that singing is at the heart of Ashmount, because children sing regularly with their class teachers, during music assemblies and music lessons, and in concerts and shows. Our school choir has performed at The Royal Albert Hall, Sadler's Wells and The Union Chapel.

Class Music Lessons
Every child in the school receives a class music lesson once a week from a specialist music teacher. During the lessons the children learn about all aspects of music, such as melody, rhythmn, singing, playing instruments, music notation, song arrangements, composing, performing, recording and music appreciation.

All children also have the option to learn a musical instrument in extra-curricular classes such as piano, recorder, guitar, clarinet, saxaphone, violin, trumpet and French horn. We also have our own orchestra and jazz band.

From year 2, children are able to join the school choir and at Christmas they lead the Carol service along with our fantastic teachers' choir.
