Ashmount Primary School

Our nursery offers places for children aged 3 to 4 years old. There are full-time places available as well as part-time places in each of the morning and afternoon sessions. Children usually start part-time in the nursery when they are 3 years old. Children are offered at least one full term in the nursery before they move on to the reception class.

Full-time session 9.00 am - 3.30 pm
Morning session 9.00 am - 12.00 pm
Afternoon session 12.30 pm - 3.30 pm

Settling in
We offer an individual settling-in programme for each child as every child is different; some children will settle very quickly, while others will take more time. When children are starting school we stagger the intake of children so that each child can be given appropriate support to make the transition from home to nursery. Parents and carers of new children are encouraged to join their children in an activity before saying goodbye.

Lunch
Full-time nursery children have a school dinner in the classroom. We aim to make the meal a pleasant, homely experience where children are encouraged to talk and develop their social skills.

Music and Physical Education
The nursery children take part in weekly music sessions with a specialist music teacher in our well-resourced music room. We have PE twice a week in the school hall where children can develop their physical skills using large and small apparatus and explore movement through dance.

Lending Library
Children are encouraged to borrow books and toys - carefully chosen educational games and activities - to share with you at home.
